VMC alternative for stored TV, movies, and music videos

Is there a media center alternative that provides for cataloging movies, music videos, and TV shows stored on the hard drive?  I'd like something that could pull show metadata from either thetvdb.com or imdb.com, generate the xml, and show correct info on a show.  So for a number of shows it would list the TV show, then the seasons, then the episodes.  When clicking on a show, you can choose 'play series' to play all the way through, or choose a season.  The series page shows the series overview, cast, etc.  The season overview would allow you to 'play season' all the way through, or choose individual episodes, and provide for resume and restart if you pause in the middle of an episode.

It would also resort based on genre, lanugage, year, airdate, title, original channel, and allow me to search by language, year, actor, and channel.

    Does such a program exist?

myTV will do a lot of what you are requesting.  It pulls episode data from thetvdb.com.  It allows you to view by series, then season, & then episodes.  It also allows for "play next" & "play random" functions at the series & season levels.  Depending on which view you choose, one shows all series overview, cast, etc while another doesn't, but a pop-up with basic functions (including that data) and online functions is accessable from each view.

There is no "play season" function, but the "play next" button does pretty much the same thing, and hitting the "play" button on the remote at the series or season level will play the next unwatch episode automatically.

There is no built-in resume function yet, but should be in the close future, as it seems to be high on the to-do list.

myTV doesn't use messy xml files though - it keeps your file system clean & clutter free by using SQL Express.  This is needed to handle a lot of the functions of the program.
