Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.7.8 w/ Vista Extender Support

Sorry for the confusion my last post regarded my license was no longer valid. I got netflix to give me a new one. Now I can watch now inside vmcNetFlix (on the pc) but I still get the error (codec error) when I try to watch now on the 360. I have uninstalled my codec pack that included ffdshow and have reinstalled my ati video driver. Just to make sure everything was done right I reinstalled your application just now and still got the same results. I am going to get that log you asked for and post it.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.7.8 w/ Vista Extender Support

Sounds like im having the same problem.  I can get it to work fine on my regular vista media center, but i get the "license" error on my extender.  I have also tried to reinitalize the extender multiple times with no luck.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.7.8 w/ Vista Extender Support

You should be able to get it to dump the cloned license by telling the app to aquire a new license from netflix. It should say something to the affect that a new license will be gathered from netflix, I exited when it said this and then re-entered the program and it asked if I want to clone from the pc. I cloned it and it got the correct license on the 360. I still cannot play back the video at this point because of the codec issue. I hope this helps you though.

When you ran the extender, did you ask to clone the license or proceed with setting up a new one?

Well, this is at least a step forward ...

Strangely enough, I'm now having the same problem ... I'm looking at it right now.  Could you PM me the contents of the vmcExtenderSetup.log for the extender, which should be located at: C:\Users\Mcx1\AppData\Local\Temp

    Thanks,

Looks like netflix online is down for "scheduled maintence", I'll have to look into this later.

For those interested, looks like Netflix updated their player last night.  I had to manually update the player this morning (via attempting to play a movie though IE7).

Well, looks like my problem last night was related to netflix being down.

One thing I'd like you to try is install the latest ffdshow - I don't expect ffdshow to solve the problem, but I do increase the about of time I wait for the movie player to initialize.  I'd like to see if that helps (or not).

    Thanks,

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.7.8 w/ Vista Extender Support

Ok I got this set up and working on my main media center machine in the living room just got my Xbox 360 replacement from Nyko set up and went through the setup of the extender cloned the licence and worked fine on the 360 I then go to the media center in the living room and it wants me to obtain a new licence before playing anything so I accept an watch my shows then go back to the bedroom and on the 360 it wants me to clone the licence again and will not play seems at this rate all I am going to do is burn up my licenses and not be able to use watch now at all it is more important for me to have it on the livingroom machine than on an extender so for now I have given up on this application untill a better solution becomes available as I am pretty sure at this point I am on my last license

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.7.8 w/ Vista Extender Support

The purpose of "cloning" is to share the license between the VMC account and the Extender account on the same PC.  One limitiation in cloning, so far, is that you can only have the movie player setup (initialized) to run on one account at a time - therefore, if you initialize the player on the VMC PC and play a movie, when you go back to the Extender you will need to re-initialize the player to work on the Extender.  This essentially transfers the license to the Extender - cloning will not allow you to play a movie on both the VMC account and the Extender account at the same time.

If you want to play a movie on the Extender and, at the same time play a movie on the VMC PC, you will need to use up another license (i.e. don't clone).

It's always possible that Netflix could change the player to prevent this from happening, but it seems to work right now.
