    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Vader

            Awsome app.   I use it on a mediasmart connect  and a media smart TV.  One thing I noticed was that the video seems to judder and tear, most noticable faster panning scenes.  I think it is because the HP v2 extenders do not fix the 24fps frame rate when it is output to the TV at 1080i.

    Do you know any configs to mencoder to try that could smooth out the playback?

    Thanks

    Eric

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Vader,

    Thanks for the update!  After some difficulty I am now able to stream from the DVD drive. Thank-you!!! Truning off UAC did it.  The problem I'm having now is when I first hit play DVD...i get a codec error.  the transcoding process starts fine so if I go back and retry, it works.

    It seems as though I need to change the delay.  When I change settings in the control panel, none of them seem to 'take effect'.  (hence "difficulty" above, I had to change the actual mencoder path, because I wasn't able to change it through the control panel.)  When I hit "save" nothing happens.  Should I see some 'notification' of the change?  I can no longer find the delay setting in the registry...has the registry location changed from previous versions?

    PS....on a different post someone donated through paypal...I'll do the same if you tell me how.

    Hi Richard,

    I see that you are very active and sort of the expert here so I think maybe you can help me...

    Here is my situation, I already installed a DMA2200 Extender with success. I have a installed the transcoder.dll and everything to have the DVD Library. I am using a wvx file with a single mpg and a dummy IFO file. Everything works fine with this extender.

    My problem is that I installed a second DMA2200 but this one, altough it shows the DVD Library, is telling me that there is no movie. I did add the folder where they are. I do see my music and images. It's just missing the movies. Any idea ? Do I have to reinstall anything for a second extender ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jacques

    I have never tried two extenders.

    I am using an Xbox 360 now, I have a DMA2200 Extender still in the box, and if I get time I will connect two extenders and see if I can get it to work this weekend.

    Edit too add: Anyone else have two extenders working?

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Hi,

    Thanks Richard, I'll be waiting for your test.

    By the way for anyone with language soundtrack selection problems with a Linksys DMA2200 extender (should be the same for a DMA2100 I suppose), I am using tsMux from smart labs. It is free and does a great job.

    Until Linksys solve the problem with their machine, to get the french soundtrack (or it could be spanish, german or whatever you want) to play with my DMA2200 is I use tsMux to demux the movie after selecting the right stream. French is usually the second stream at x81. This result in 2 files (a MPV and an AC3 in my case) which I then remux using M2TS muxing option in tsMux. This process takes just a few minutes to do. I then rename the M2TS file to MPG and the DMA2200 will play with the selected soundtrack. This is the result of a lot of work so I hope this help someone.

    Here is the adress for the dowload : http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Hey all, I seem to have almost everything working correctly. Minus actually seeing dvd's under the dvd library section. (unless a dvd is in the drive, and then it shows up on the PC and the 360)

     I've enabled the DVD library so i can see it on my MCE machine, i also got it visible on my 360 (using the new transcode). I can navigate through "Pictures and Movies" and play videos that way. But i cannot see anything under the "dvd library" section on the PC nor the 360

    I am also using that nifty "DVD Library Manager" program to download dvd info from Amazon or imdb. DVD library see's my files, but again, media center does not. My file stucture is like this.

    H:\Movies\Aladdin\Folder.jpg
    H:\Movies\Aladdin\Aladdin.wvx  (works if i double click it)
    H:\Movies\Aladdin\taranu.dvdid.xml   (created by that manager prog)
    H:\Movies\Aladdin\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.MPG
    H:\Movies\Aladdin\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO  (0 bytes)

    And yes, H:\Movies is monitored through Vista. So, i can't figure out what i'm missing here. Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Hi,

    I believe the problem is that the wvx file has to go in the VIDEO_TS directory.

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    The wvx file goes into the folder before the VIDEO_TS folder (the same place you would put the folder.jpeg or an XML file).

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Hi Richard,

    I just tried and on my system it's working fine if I put the wvx file in the VIDEO_TS directory or the directory above (where is the folder.jpg or the wvx file.

    Good to know it worked in both.

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    i thought the .wvx file was only usefull if the video was broken into multiple files, or you needed to reference .mpg's instead of .vob's.  But, either way, i have a copy in both places.

    Also to note, i did a direct DVD rip, full dvd (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) of the same movie, and again, WMC can't seem to recognize it as a dvd.

    I'm going to try re-doing the registry and rebooting i guess.... *shrug* i've done beat this dead horse for long enough.

    Show me what’s in your wvx play list (Aladdin.wvx ) post it back here, in that play list is there a H:\ or a UNC path

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    Could it be a directory depth problem ? I know there is a registry setting to tell VMC to look deeper in the directory.

    Re: DVD Library coming to an Extender near you

    <ASX version = "3.0">
    <Title>Aladdin</Title>
    <Entry>
    <Ref href="H:\Movies\Aladdin\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.MPG"/>
    </Entry>
    </ASX>

    I've tried "\\Arrakis\Movies\Aladdin\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.MPG"  but double clicking the file would return an error.
