    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

yep i am talking about salami's movie organiser, and yes its not automated (not yet anyway) so will require you to click save metadata for each movie, i know that sounds like a pain but it really doesnt take too long, i reckon i could grab metadata and images for around 100 movies in 2 hours max.

if you used to use mymovies i think you can just use your existing metadata from mymovies, at least i think this is true, perhaps somebody could confirm this?.

Yes, the .xml data from myMovies does still show up in video browser, and it much more detailed than what I've been pulling off imdb and the salami's movie organizer... Each program has its advantages (myMovies / Salami's movie organizer).  You are right, it doesnt take long.  One is never touch, the other gives me more control over the end result.  Its a toss up in my opinion at this point.

If I had to START with 500+ movies, I would choose myMovies for the xml - just not to click through 500 movie titles - but since I already had a head start - it was easy to update the last few and make the needed changes to a few that myMovies couldn't find before.  If / when he add's automation - It will be excellent.

Re: New Video Browser Plugin Black Theme

    paulaeccleston:
    Araltd:
I'm having trouble with video browser and divx folders.  I have 500+ divx rips scattered across my network on 3 drives, and I'm using the virtual folder option (divx.vf) to locate them all.  Sometimes (most times) the folder.jpg are squished from top to bottom... And I don't see them all the way down to the bottom on the screen - they are concentrated in the middle of the screen - but squished.

I also have a blu-ray .vf setup, with 150'ish folders, and I do not have that problem when I click on that link.

    ANY ADVICE?

hi, i dont think the issue is the number of video files as i have around 300 myself and have no issues when in poster view, possibly your folder.jpg's have funny dimensions?, as a test try copying one of the images you have which displays correctly to a folder that isnt displaying correctly and see what happens. i personally resize all my images to be exactly the same and have yet to see one as you've described.

the only thing it could be related to is the fact your accessing the video's over a network, which im not doing (all files local) so if the above doesnt work then maybe thats the issue?.

    paul.

Well, first it does it on ALL the images in the poster view... not just some. And not everytime (but most of the time). I've attached a couple of terrible pictures to try and show you all what it looks like - this was taken with my iPhone, so it looks like crap. This should give you guys an understanding of what I'm trying to explain... A picture speaks a thousand words after all....

This is the correct format, and what I see when I click on the BLURAY .vf link after clicking the video browser.

See how all the poster are big, and the image list goes all the way down the screen... Now here's what I get 99% of the time when I click DIVX .vf link...

On this image you can see how the images are all concentrated in the center or middle of the screen, and do NOT got all the way down to the bottom of the screen - thats why they are being displayed as squished.  For some reason video browser is not using all the screen to display the posters when I click on Divx.  Its a bug (I think?) because it doesn't happen EVERY time, just most of the time.

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

I agree, I rip my dvds on the quad core which has my movies installed to add metadata and covers to the folders. They're then shuttled over to the HTPC which has the video browser plugin. Works a treat. This is one of my mustinstall add-ins

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

I'm confused - I added a post with pictures about my problem of video browser squishing the poster images and not using the entire height of the screen - but it said it required moderator approval... I included some snap shots of the screen so everyone could see what it is doing.

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

hi, i can see what you mean by your screenshots, its basically not maintaining aspect ratio for your cover art, can you tell me what the dimensions of your coverart for your divx collection is?, and does it differ to the dimensions of the coverart for your bluray collection?.

also what aspect ratio are you running on your tv? 4:3 or 16:9 and what screen resolution? 1920 x 1080?

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

My tv is 16x9, running at 1080p - its not exactly 1920x1080 --- its something to compensate for overscan... but still at the same ratio using the ati control panel... its like 1854 x something - I can't remember.

The art is all different sizes, in bluray and divx. Some of the folders have higher res art than the others... In both the bluray and divx - they are all different sizes.... And remember, the bluray always looks fine - while the divx almost always looks terrible. The bluray has NEVER done what the divx link does - and the divx link only once in a while looks correct.

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

Have to say please keep the development goin on this, this pwns the the basic lack of MS support for Video (which is a killer feature for any media center) it also gives me the thing i needed that mymovies doesnt provide, that is sort by genre, which is of the utmost importance (why those guys left it out is beyond me).

5 stars and now one of my most appreciated plugins ;)

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

    Yeah!

This really is the best video-plugin so far. The one with least pain to add a new movie to the collection.
The only thing missing is .iso support. But lets hope there is an update due soon! :)

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

Can anyone advise me what the latest version is and where to obtain it? I love OML but the lack of folder view is killing me :( I tried this browser a while back but it defaulting to list view in every subfolder was irritating the hell out of me ;) Is it now possible to set the global default view?

    Regards

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

    Hi,

I have installed it yesterday and I am loving it.

I was not able to display subtitles for AVI files. I have many AVI files that I need to watch with subtitles. My current option is to use VLC player.

Is it possible to display subtitles while playing AVI files? If so, how?

    Thanks,
    Srikanth
