Re: Netflix WatchNow MCE plug-in Development

I've tried to uninstall, but it won't work.

    From Event Viewer:

Product: NetflixMC -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action _01188770_A45E_4859_9789_B9E181489BC8, location: C:\Program Files\NetflixMC\NetflixMC Agent\NetflixMC Config.exe, command: -SetupUninstall

    and

    EventType clr20r3, P1 netflixmc config.exe, P2 1.0.0.0, P3 47eedb44, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 471ebc5b, P7 3404, P8 26d, P9 system.io.ioexception, P10 NIL.

    Any ideas?

Before the uninstall, I set IE back to my default browser, to see if that may help... no luck.

Just curious as to when you ma put the downloads back for the Windows XP Media Center Netflix Plugin?

I just put together a HTPC and opted not to go with Vista - I am sure there are still a lot of people using XP Media Center.

    Thanks for all your work!

    btothec,

I have not lost all hope for a Netflix Client for MCE 2005 yet. I have been looking at other technologies to be used with the MCE 2005's HTML interface. Right now I am waiting on the final release of Silverlight 2. I will be using Silverlight 2 as a backend to talk with the NetflixMC Agent. The NetflixMC Agent hosts a WCF service that Silverlight 2 will be able to use. Right now Silverlight 2 does not 100% support WCF... as in it won't compile correctly.

I have already gone down the Active X route and because of security restriction on cross domain calls I can't use Active X.

Re: NetflixMC plug-in Development - Question

Good to hear you're still working on this project, but is there any way I can get a copy of your last vista beta??  I noticed your site has had the downloads turned off for a few weeks now at least.

I used to use it on my HTPC and it worked and looked great, it did everything I needed, and it was always reliable... but I lost my copy when I upgraded hard drives.

I've since tried mynetflix and vmcnetflix, both of which don't work right for me, I get constant crashes.

Re: NetflixMC plug-in Development - Question

Just made a token donation to cover one power session's worth of coffee.  I'm rootin' for this project.  A Vista upgrade for me is still hopefully another year or two away.  With luck, I'll skip it alltogether.  Anyways, thanks for everything you've put in so far.  It's a worthy goal.

    Re: NetflixMC plug-in Development

How does one find NetflixMC MCE 2005 to download?  I would love to check it out, but the download links on http://www.geekitsolutions.com/project/NetflixMC/Windows-Media-Center-PC-Plugin/ are offline.

    Thanks

Does anyone still use MCE 2005?

    October 23rd, 2008 . by admin

My question to you is… does anyone still use Windows Media Center 2005?

As some of you may know I had been working on a MCE 2005 Netflix Plug-in. Do to the constant changes on Netflix’s website I was unable to maintain updates do to time restraints. Now that Netflix has released an official API I have decided to start the NetflixMC project up again. I am making a change to the NetflixMC client though; it will be for MCE Vista and up. Is there anyone that would like to work with me to create a front end interface for MCE 2005? If so contact me over at TheGreenButton.com  (http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/255078.aspx)

Yes, Still use MCE2005 latest ver 5.12715.3011

Can work with you to create a front end interface for MCE 2005.

    Thanks,

    Re: NetflixMC plug-in Development

I am a MCE 2005 user and would absolutely LOVE a NetflixMC version for MCE 2005.  I also have a HP x5400 extender and if this could allow for extender support so I could use the Watch Now functionality, I would be in heaven.  I would also definitely pay you for building this as well.  Count me in as a donor if you get this done!
