Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

i have no idea about the feasibility of this but my only problem is getting my music from my ipod/itunes to stream to my xbox 360.

If there is a simple way of having a programme do all the work for me, i.e all my itunes is sorted perfectly, and that it appears in MCE that way that would be super

    Many thanks for the post

    regards

    mike

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

    Request:

     - GUI and Command Line options to only process tracks that have been added/modified since the last run:

Musicbridge could write a timestamp into a registry key or .ini file and use the value in this file as the add/modify date.  This value would be update when a task completes without "Stop pressed  orsomething bad happened."

-GUI options would be checkboxs for source and dest that, when checked, applies the last-run date and locks the appropriate field.

-CLI option would be a keyword that could be used in place of a date, or new options, if trapping in the date parser is too kludgy.

    musicbridge -AlliTunesToWMP -SourceAddedDate LastRun

    or

    musicbridge -AlliTunesToWMP -SourceAddedLastRun

I would second the request for a time memory, however I have got a fairly ugly cludge for this which I shared in an earlier post:

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else is using this.

and i'm using it myself until that functionality is built-in.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

    Hi,

    Great software. Congrats.

I am trying to get it to run in Windows Vista Beta 2 Ultimate. What I want to do is import library info from iTunes to WMP 11. The import starts fine and runs along for a while but eventually stops without completing with message "Error writing to LOG file." My guess is that it is a permissions issue.

Is the source available? I'd be glad to help you fix this issue, I am a .NET developer myself.

If not I thank you in advance and hope this could be fixed as I could only migrate about 20% of my library.

    Tx

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

Does it even create the output log? Seems odd that it gets to a certain point before failing based on that.

Unfortunately I don't have access to Vista and probably won't have until 2007. I have done some testing on XP with WMP11 and it seemed to work fine.

Is it possible to grant apps certain permissions in Vista?

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

I'm a little surprised that your files are being 'touched'  even if they haven't changed. MusicBridge explicitly checks to see if the info matches if it does it doesn't write the tags again. It would seem that the WMP API is counting the file being looked at as a modify.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

I'm also using WMP 11 and Music Bridge just stops about three or four playlists into the sync.

I can't figure out what the problem is.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

Are you using WMP11 on XP or Vista?

Is it only Playlist sync that fails? Was it working with WMP10?

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

I am trying to get this to work with WMP 11, but I can't get wmp to add my m4a files to my library. I have the proper codec to play them, I have there location set up to scan for them, and I can add them to playlists. But I can't get them to add to the actual library. Anybody know how to fix this for wmp11? Music bridge worked great for my other songs, but the ones I need it to do most, the aacs, I can't get into wmp library for it to work on.

    Thanks, Brandon
ps. I checked the registry and wmp is set up for m4a/aac files. I don't know why it won't add the files I thought it was a problem with wmp11, but apparently some people here have been successfull with wmp11. I wanted to try wmp10 but windows doesn't want me to install it because of 11 and it won't let me unistall 11....

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

Perhaps try a WMP group. I have seen a similar situation with WMP10 where it adds AAC/m4a to "other media", but it sounds like you have already considered that.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

OK, I know I have asked this before, but I didn't get much takeup. As you know MusicBridge is on download.com now (http://www.download.com/MusicBridge/3640-2141_4-10530688.html) with almost 2000 downloads which is great. However it is unfortunately ranked 3 stars because it has 3 reviews, two 4 star and one 1 star. The one star review was from someone who didn't have the .net framework and was obviously struggling. It probably shouldn't bother me, but it really does when I look at that 1 star rating and how much it is affecting the overall rating. I know there have to be multiple users here who are at least marginally happy with the app, so I am asking again that if you are a (mostly)satisified user of MusicBridge that you swing on over to download.com and add a rating and/or review. I don't think it's too much to ask in exchange for some free software. On the other hand maybe you all hate it and I will just get a lot of bad reviews...

Re: RE: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

Just installed MusicBridge (1.6.1) for the first time, and it just won't run. Is there something simple I have missed?

Whatever I do, I only get the message: "You pressed stop or something bad happened."

This was asked earlier (2006-04-07), but I never saw any resolution. Here are the follow-up questions asked at that time:

1: Are your music files on your local machine?
Yes. About 3,000 songs running on my home Desktop PC in WMP.

2: What format are theses specific files in?
Most are MP3 format, maybe 1% are WMA files.

3: What version of WMP do you have?
I am running WMP 10.00.00.4036 (Swedish)

4: What version of iTunes do you have?
    6.0.5.20

5: Please attach the file C:\MusicBridgeLog.txt

    Welcome To Music Bridge
You pressed stop or something bad happened

You pressed stop or something bad happened

You pressed stop or something bad happened

6: What happens when you choose the export to XML option in MusicBridge?
Exactly the same thing as above, just the error message.

Any idea what the problem can be, or what else can I do to provide diagnostic information?
