    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

You guys seem really smart... Let me try explain my situation and see if you can help:

    • I have a standard cable package with most channels from 2-64 for analog TV, and 6 ClearQAM  channels in the 105-108 range (105.3, 107.2, 107.3, 108.1, 108.3, 108.4)
    • I have a 2250 with TVPack and the 26322 prerelease Hauppauge driver installed with regedit setting for PowerToy and latest Microsoft patches. Redid this multiple times.
    • On my TV I can get all my Analog and ClearQAM digital channels just fine
    • With WinTV that came with my card, I can also get the 6 ClearQAM channels to come in just fine, after manually tuning / scanning a few times that is.
    • With Media Center, I can not get it to find these channels for the life of me. I tried to use a variety of Cable / Antenna combinations with no luck, I think I've gone through the setup 25 times with a variety of ways, mannually scanning for more digital channels.
    • If I try to edit the MCE channel list, and add digital channels manually, it doesn't let me type in the 3 digit channel number. It only allows xx.xx format. I also manually type "105.3" just in the live TV section and it can't tune the channel.
    • The setup does find (or at least thinks it does) some channels at numbers like 4.1, 4.3, 9.1, etc... but there is no station to tune too there. These numbers represent OverTheAir signals that somehow it must recognize, but don't have enough strenth to tune. If I plug in some rabit ears I can tune these channels fine, so thats why I'm guessing the tuner is finding them over the air, and they don't have anything to do with my Cable QAM channels.

Is my problem that my ClearQAM channels are 3 digit and MCE can't see those, even though WINTV can? How do I manually enter in a 3 digit channel? What other ideas does anyone have?

I just wanted to mention that the latest beta drivers don't work with qam for me either...rolling back drivers now...

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

I could get 6 QAM channels instead of the 11 from the 322 drivers... so I rolled back also.  The newest do tune faster, but not as many.

Just to clarify - which drivers are recommended? I thought the 7.5.6.26322 was the preferred release where as the 7.5.6.26354 had problems?

you are correct. the 322 drivers work, but the 354 drivers seem to have broken QAM tuning.

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

QAM is working with them, but it's buggy for me.   When I first set it up it didn't find any channels.  I then scanned for more channels and it found the same ones it always does, but I'm getting lots of blocking.
The same channels come in perfectly with my DCTs.

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

Honest, I've been reading this post religiously, and I've gotten pretty far before posting this first post here.

Did the TV pack, did the driver released 12/30, and now, finally, VMC gives me the manual option of 2 qam tuners.  However, my cable service still sends quite a few selections on analog. I've seen a quite a few posts where people set up one tuner on the 2250 to analog, and one to qam.  How do you do that?  I don't see an option of setting one tuner seperately from the other.  Do I need a separate tuner card?

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

I'm sorry.  I wasn't patient enough.  Just figured out how do set tuners separately.

By the way.  My thanks to all who keep posting their experiences here.

Every single one (all 22 pages) have been helpful getting me to this point.

    This forum has great users!

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

Where are the 64bit drivers of the 12/30 version??

I am using the 12/04 drivers and the tuners pick up channels (qam) 7,9,11 when I do a channel scan but when I try to tune to them they say no signal.  2,4,5 come in ok.  Some reason I cannot get channel 13 through the autodetect at all, my tv will pick it up 13 as qam no problem.

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

Even with the latest drivers, I only get the OTA Clear QAM channels - my TV Picks up about 100 channels or so - including FM stations. I wonder what gives...

    Re: Hauppauge 2250 / MCE

Yeah, the QAM scan is pretty garbage.  Mine finds 13 of 70+
