QuickGuide solved my problem. After changing to QuickGuide my Guide was back in shape...

RE: Let's do SmartGuide on MCE2005

"One problem... in MCE 2005 I cant search in the Guide... any idea? Thats the only problem for me right now"

    Same here!
And I have fiddle with this awhile now, and my conclusion is:
It has nothing to do with the registry entries (my first thought),
and all todo with ...\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\EPG\c2f1bd2b4cc34e61b57d407f76591986.sdf
aka the Imported guide from XMLTV..

And then saw this as info in SmartGuide.exe (assembly version: 1.0.1778.19364):
    Known Issues and ToDo's
    3. The tool does not support genres at the moment.

And search is all about genres?! yes?!

I dont know if that is a correct conclusion, its just a guess.

    Question:
Has anyone got the search to work with WebGuide2 (version? b13?) and SmartGuide?

Do QuickGuideRC2  users have the search function working?

    Cheers

RE: Let's do SmartGuide on MCE2005

you guys have done a fantastic job.  followed all the instructions and it worked well (down here in NZ).

just one question if i may be able to get some help.  When i was going through the process, i put some basic frequencies into smartguide but now when i try and change them, mce isnt listeneing.  i have changed in smartguide, deleted everything form TVAutoTune reg key, re-imported new frequencies.reg, removed all the app data ehome folder contents, re run smartguide and it updates everything ok, gets the guide in, but the channels arent right

just to prove this i put rubbish frequencies into all the channels in smartguide and went through the process but still mce is using channel frequency info from who knows where..

media centre still works even if the whole TVAutoTune key is empty.

is there somewhere else this needs to be cleared or changed???

    thanks again

RE: Let's do SmartGuide on MCE2005

Hi, does anyone know if there is an easy way (or if its even possible!) to use webguide/smartguide with the data that is already in the mce database.

Let me explain: I live in the UK and mce downloads my epg data just fine but I would really really like to be able to use webguide without having to use the xmltv data.

    Is this possible?

RE: Let's do SmartGuide on MCE2005

    FIXED IT,

Smartguide was writing to the reg key T64-1 under the TVAutoTune key, but then when i opened media centre, it would create a T64-0 key with its own channels in it.

If I chaged T64-1 to T64-0 in the frequencies.reg file before i imported, then it worked.  Its like Media Centre expects the frequencies at T64-0 and Smartguide expects to write them to T64-1.

All sorted though and working fantastic, thanks again clever people....

RE: Let's do SmartGuide on MCE2005

Alright, started to play around with MCE2005 and trying to fix a swedish guide listing. Ive been going through the checklists earlier but im stuck and I would like some pointers where to look to troubleshoot if anyone can offer any.

I installed webguide2 and got my channel listings ok and fixed aspnet rights in components services.

Now im trying to run smartguide and import my data into mce's guide, heres when I fail. I can open smartguide and list the channels fine so im connecting to the mdb at least. But when I do this:

    Click "1. WebGuide2MCE!"

    ·          Click "2. LoadGuide from XML"... this should produce a "Congratulations. It worked...". This will create a brand new MCE EPG Storage file that only contains your custom channels and no extra channels which you don't use.

    ·          Close SmartGuide.

It fails. The error messages indicates that it cannot write something cause its already in the dictionary or so (dont have the machine close to quote the exact error). I look in the output dir and only the freq reg file is there, no xml data.

I did go through and deleted all files in the profile\application data\....\ehome and imported the mce reg file + freq file.

When I run smartguide and load the channel table and try to do the "click 1" step i notice that 2 files are written here, both named *.sdf, but the step fails anyway.

Anyone else run into this error?

Or need additional data to do a correct diagnosis?

    /A
