gaz.***:I know this thread has been going on a while - and I am very much in debt to the people that made this possible....
However, as I have noticed by some people already - The Sound does not work in Vista Home Premium... I would love it if there was soem way of enabling this...
I have all the files required (I think) from Vista Ultimate - and supposed registry entries to allow these - yet still...
I have looked into this a little, and it appears to me to be more of an issue with the connecting computer than the remote computer. I right now am connected to my ultimate box with a newer pc with an hd audio codec sound device, and have sound working. If I connect to my ultimate pc with an older computer without an hd audio codec device, I get no audio.
I have experienced this a lot in the past with printers. When connecting to a remote machine, it will try and redirect printers through what you have installed on the local machine, but if the drivers cannot be loaded onto the remote machine, then it will be a no go. You can verify this by looking at the event viewer for rdp errors, and it will mention things like the printer not being able to be installed and so on and so forth.
I assume the same would be true for audio. If vista can't load the driver for the sound on your local box, then it will not allow sound over the connection.
Also, you might want to check, but under the 'Local Resources' tab, make sure the connection is set to bring the remote computer sound to the local computer. This should be enabled by default, but might want to check anyways.
Hope this helps. Thanks!
