    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    I've been a fan and user of DVRMSToolBox since babgvant first made it available for download.

    I'm still running x.6 right now - in reading through these posts for the new version there seems to be quite a bit of trouble getting things working properly.

    Are there people out there using the new version without problem and you're just the quiet ones, or is everybody having trouble?

    Thanks, I just wanted to check before I go to upgrade my DVRMSToolBox

    I have the same installation problem - and I'm installing on WinXP Pro SP2. I take it there are no plans to support XP for this software?

    DOH! i forgot to tell you, yes i installed it on a windows xp pro sp2 machine. I remember seeing something about windowsxp/2000 and DVRMS and a registry setting in the old thread, but tried digging thru about 20 of the 88(!) pages before i gave up.

    1.0.96 is running and configuring (the temp folder) ok.

    If i "force" the 1.0.97 install and ignore the "input wah wah"-error and then manually edit the settings.grd file to point to my temp folder (H:/DVRMSTMP) it still dies with an error.

    Please to fix as i am dying to try the new version.. it has much nicer gui.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    Hello,

    New user here.  Just installed Version 1.0.9.7 last night.  I am getting a missing DLL error when i am attempting to convert dvr-ms to WMV.  I am doing this with the DVRMStoMPEGGUI app.  What follows is what the error says.

    Title: DVRMStoMPEG.exe - Unable to Locate Component
    Contents: This application has failed to start because MSVCR71D.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

    This is in the status window:
    InputFile=D:\Recorded TV\Power Lunch_CNBC_16_03_2006_13_23_26.dvr-ms
    Processing actions, this may take some time!!
    Profile = dvr2wmv
    Convert DVR-MS to WMV using DVR2WMV
    Begin conversion of D:\Recorded TV\Power Lunch_CNBC_16_03_2006_13_23_26.dvr-ms to D:\Recorded TV\power lunch.wmv
    The specified module could not be found.
    Duration = 02:35:21.3906250

    I did not reinstall as I figured it would be more helpful to post the error message first, and do any checking you may require.  Plus I did not want to screw things up further.  heh..

    I had 1.0.9.5 converting the WMV perfectly prior to installing this new version.  I uninstalled the .5 version so i could have a clean install of the .7 version.

    Just out of curiosity, I did a search for the missing MSVCR71D.dll on my pc.  I found it in two places, my dcut directory, which i installed a couple of weeks back, and it is in Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition\PlusDME11.cab

    Edit: I have confirmed that DVR-MS convert to MPEG does work.

    Any recomendations?

    Is it possible for anyone to send me the previous version of DVRMSToolbox since it appears to be working on WinXP Pro SP2? Version 1.0.9.6

    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    semi-SOLUTION FOR WINXP SP2 (toolbox1.0.96+showanalyser.0.6.2-beta):

    this is what i did:

    add/remove programs... remove dvrmstoolbox and showanalyser. REBOOT!

    install dvrmstoolbox1.0.96 in default location. make sure you only tick showanalyser when the installer asks you which additional components you want to install...

    run dvrmstoolboxsettings.exe (this will install showanalyser 5.x in c:\program files\dragonglobal\showanalyser)

    (maybe reboot, didn't write the steps down)

    install showanalyser 0.6.2-beta in the c:\program files\dragonglobal\showanalyser folder

    setup dvrmstoolbox according to the entries on bluewiki (ie: cut commercials from all files etc.)

    note: i have not had any luck getting custom profiles (showanalyser) to work with dvrmstoolbox1.0.96 and showanalyser 0.6.2-beta... for some reason only the default is being used... i have only been hacking at it for a few hours so i might have overlooked the obvious...

    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    the support model is "best effort" on every platform I didn't test the install on XP Pro; I'll try to fix the problem in the next rev so XP Pro users can play too.

    I think the reg key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording, RecordPath = "Path to Recorded Tv" where RecordPath is a String value.

    Try adding that and running the install again.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    I'm not sure why it's not finding the files... turn on event logging in the addin and it will write debug information to the application source in the event log. You can also try using FileMon (www.sysinternals.com) to see what file the addin is looking for, that will provide insight into the underlying issue.

    start up mce and play a show, you should see a few events indicating that the addin loaded and the path to the show. Let me know what shows up.

    Is the path an UNC?

    Bouncing in my chair as I see babgVant starting to reply to people.  Anxiously awaiting..  hehe..

    No doubt the mindnumbingly slow progress of the his board is contributing.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    i don't know why, but on some machines that dll is missing. installing dvr2wmv, located in the dl section of this site, should fix the problem.

    if your shows are sd ntsc, you can use the profile that uses the Intelligent Connect (IC) convert to wmv. Can't remember who it was, but someone said that was the only way they could get conversion to work...

    I already have that application installed!  Interestingly enough it also gives the same error.  Okay downloading now will install it again in a sec here.  Figure that cant hurt.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

    it's possible that my installer broke the registration for that dll
