    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

As requested the zip file is attached.  It also includes the output from systeminfo.exe.  (Pretty useful command line utility for outputting hotfixes)

    1.  WinDVD is installed for playing DVD's.  Nvidia is just the decoder.  I have NVIDIA set as the "preferred" decoder in Windows Decoder Check.

    2.  It happens automatically.  I just realized that the default advanced options in XP are to automatically reboot and take a minidump.  I just changed them to "Complete Memory Dump", but left the autoreboot.  The events leading up to it are going to the guide, highlighting a show already in progress, hitting record on the remote.

    3.  See above.

    4.  I haven't tried closing mytray and recording without it.  I did "schedule" a recording last night and the reboot didn't happen.  However I did roll back to SHSPVR's 2.102 drivers for the Hauppauge Roslyn.  With that being said, I'm back to my "jumpy" HD recordings.  SD is fine, but the HD recordings show a lousy bit rate in the NIVIDA decoder properties, as it jumps the bitrate goes to 0.  To put it in perspecitve I recorded "The O.C." as a test and the total file size for SD was 3.5 GB and the HD was 3.3 GB.

    5.  There doesn't seem to be an issue with channel change... only record.

Now keep in mind that I had been running the original setup for quite a few months and everything went haywire toward the end of January.  This happened on two exactly configured Gateway 901x machines.  I think Comcast has either changed something in my area, my feed is screwed up from the street, or both boxes got screwed up.  Watching HD itself isn't an issue.

Any help would be appreciated.  I'm more than willing to be a test bed for this.  I've posted some of my previous troublshooting over in this thread
    http://www.thegreenbutton.com/community/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=26&MessageID=157547&TopicPage=1

I've read some articles about HDPump.  Any thoughts?  If Comcast hasn't changed the feed out of the firewire port it almost seems like my machines either can't keep up.  The only issue with that thought is that utilization is low during recording... only a few percent.

    Thanks.

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

you might have automaticall reboot on system error enabled and you are actually getting a BSOD  and it's rebooting before you can see it.  right click on my computer, go to properties, then go to the advanced tab.  under startup and recovery, click the settings button.  under system failure, check to see if the automatically restart is uncheck.  if this was checked, next time you have a system crash, please post what the BSOD says, as I was having this same problem.

if that box wasn't check, please disreguard my post as it's a totally different problem.

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

Picked up the latest build and everything looks great...

Except for the fact that the XBox 360 shipments are definitely up (walked out of Target with 2 premium systems this morning) and I cannot watch HD while it records.  360 MCX reports a "disk error" and suggests rebooting the MCE to fix it.

Since HD extenders are in short supply I suspect that this is a new issue- anyone else seeing it?

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

    Another fun one...

With the latest build installed if a recording starts while watching another recording program (e.g. started watching one program after 15 minutes to get to skip commercials, another program starts recording on the half hour) the channel change seems to go to the first recording not the second.  The fun part is that if I jump over to the new recording that just started I can pick up right where the first one switched.

    Anyone else seen this?

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

First off, This is a great program!  I'm sure my problem is something stupid on my end.

Channel changing works great, but my recorded programs are jumpy.  The system is pretty beefy.  ATx1300 with 256.  Pentium 960D, 2GB RAM SATA drives etc.   I've applied the post SP2 Firewire patch but to no avail.  Is there something I'm missing?  I've tried the Nvidia and Intermedia decoders with the same results.

oh, the STB is a 3250HD...

    Any suggestions?

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

After installing the latest update I started running into problems with my setup (dual DCT-6200 STB)

    1. If I change channels everything works fine

    2. If I manually press "Record" on the remote I get firewire recording for both STBs

Now the problem is: when I program MCE to record through the guide only one of the STBs will record through firewire, the other won't change channel and won't record.

I've pasted the relevant part from my tuner.log (Full log attached). Did anyone see this behavior?

    Yeah,

I'm seeing the same behavior now as well.  I'll let Tim know and we'll see what he can do about it.

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

Apparently when I moved one of my tuner cards to a different slot the remaining registry data confused mytray (which saw 3 tuners instead of 2). Manually changing EnabledForMCE from 0xffffffff to 0 for that entry solved the problem.

    Thanks Tim!

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

I'm having trouble with an R5000HD setup with firestb. After finding this great program I pulled one my two 169time boxes out of the closet (stopped using them after getting an HDTivo) downloaded the latest software for the Linux box and without to much trouble I was making timed HD recordings with MCE. I have the latest version of Purevideo encoders an Intel 945 mobo with 3.0 P4 2 GB memory.
Firestb seemed to convert the TS files to ms-dvr with no problem and a two hour would play back in MCE with only 3 or 4 glitches FF and RW worked well. So I decided to have one of my 169time boxes converted to R5000HD to see how well it worked with that. Got everything installed and working (R5000HD software & firestb) channel changing TS recording. The problem seems to be in the conversion process to ms-dvr in the recorded TV folder the HD recordings seem to fail at 17 to 20 minutes in the fire folder the TS files are complete. If I open the TS file it starts in WMP using HDTVpump the file plays fine without any FF or RW capabilities. One the MCE side the firewire recordings are all 17 to 20 minutes long. I have uninstalled and reinstalled firestb and R5000HD software several times and still get same
results. Has anyone else seen this behavior I am at the point of of a complete MCE reinstall but before I do that I thought I would see if anyone here could help me out.

    RE: MyTray / FireSTB Updates

    Hey guys,

I am having a small issue. I have two 6200 stb's. Both are being recognized through the cmd prompt. I can manipulate both of them through the channel -v command.

My problem is that the "mytray" app only lists 1 tuner. I see both stb listed as a tuner device for tuner 1. However, there is no tuner 2 box to pick my stb.

If I go into Mce -> other progs -> firestb -> I have both unique id's present. However, as stated above, the mytray app only lists one tuner.

I need some help with this. My config consists of two haupagge 150mce cards and an nvidia 6800 256 video card.

My channel -v output is as follows:

     C:\Program Files\Timmmoore\MCE 2005 STB Controller>channel -v

    In the readme, it states:

"Supports 1 to 4 STBs (UI only configures 2)"

Is it possible to get MCE to control 4 STBs?

Just out of curiosity, what should the 3rd device be recongnized as?

I have the AVC Tuner & Panel devices, and still have two unknown devices.  Pointing them back at the drivers directory comes up dry.  What is the 3rd device?
