RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

X10Commander v1.2.1 is now available (see original post for attachments) that includes:

    1. An MSI installer to automate installation.
      1. If you have any of the previous versions installed, please run "regsvr32 /u ahscript.dll" from a command prompt (and from the application folder) before running the MSI.
      2. Also, any customizations you may have made to the RWPlusMCE05.xml should be backed up first.
      3. The MSI creates a shortcut in the startup folder to run X10Commander on startup.

    2. Updates to the RWPlusMCE05.xml to map the mousepad arrow buttons and the clock button (same changes described in 5/25/2005 9:13 AM post).
    3. Minor bug fix to show errors encountered during startup in a message box rather than throwing an exception.
    Techno-babble:
    1. I'm using the free Advanced Installer to create the MSI.
    2. I'm also now using the open source Subversion and Tortoise for version control.

    Thanks!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

I think the app is gr8!!! I have both a microsoft media center remote and the remote wonder plus and using xcommander and using the rempte wonder even contorls the ir blasters. Only glitch i get is that for some reason if i press a number on the remote wonder it writes it twice  4 ex i hit 2 and 22 comes out or 4 44 comes out, also when i hit the arrow keys on the gide it goes up to lines as if i was pressing it twice, the same with the volume control. Does it do that to you or is there some configuration i have to make so this doesnt happen. Once again Gr8 app!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

This would happen if you have the ATIRW.EXE (or similar s/w) running at the same time as X10Commander.  Look for the RW icon in your systemtray, close it down, and remove the shortcut from your startup folder.

Glad you like the app though!

    Thanks!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Great, glad it worked out.  Did it have anything to do with the RF address at all or something else?

    Thanks!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Actually I have no idea what caused it to work. After reinstalling the ATI software and disabling it from starting @ start up, I restarted the machine and enabled logging in the app and low and behold it started to work.

The only think I can think of is that maybe when I installed the X10 driver the X10 install program on the ATI disc doesn't have all the files requiered to run the reciever.

I did not change the RF address. I chose to rethink my install method before moving on to the hardware.

Ok, just wanted to make sure the default address ("p2") wasn't too presumptuous of the app.

Glad it's working for you. Feel free to post any suggestions, requests, etc., as they come up.

    Thanks!

    Hi Michael,

you have once replied to a question of mine at URL : http://www.codeproject.com/library/x10Demo.asp?msg=1111623#xx1111623xx

Thanks for that reply, and yes there is someone besides Acidprime using your prg too - or at least trying to. I just didn't get round to investigate deeper yet. But I will do some time ;-)

    Regards and "cool stuff"

Hi Scruff.R. Glad to hear it! And please let me know if this app can be used for your situation, or whatever you end up with. I'd be most interested.

    Thanks!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Hi! Glad to hear from another user! When AppName, AppHandle, CmdName and Macro are blank it means X10Commander couldn't find an application to send the commands to. I assume the Processed column is always False too then?

Are you using MCE 2005 or 2004? By default it's configured for 2005. If you're using 2004, you may need to change the className and windowName attributes of the X10Application tag in RWPlusMCE05.xml. These can be determined with Spy++ (attached). From "Search>Find Window", target the main window of your media center application.

Also, I don't know if the keyboard shortcuts are the same for 2004. You may need to edit the X10Command tags for those that are different.

If you are using 2005, does X10Commander work if you start MCE manually first?

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

As long as your remote is a X10 device it should work fine. The ActiveHome scripting libraries used by X10Commander works on all X10 devices.

Did you enable logging (see the checkbox in the lower-left corner of X10Commander)?

What device driver is your remote using? From Device Manager (My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager), double-click the RW2 device under USB controllers and go to Driver, then Driver Details. Your device driver should be X10*.sys (e.g. mine is X10ufx2.sys).
You could also check that you have a C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10 folder.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

FYI - v1.2.2 of X10Commander is now available. Please see the original post for attachments.

    This release includes:
    1. An XML commands file for Intervideo WinDVD 5 (RWPlusWinDVD5.xml). If you don't want to use X10Commander with WinDVD, just remove the ",C:\Program Files\X10Commander\RWPlusWinDVD5.xml" from the CommandFiles setting in X10Commander.exe.config.

    2. Improved key processing for extended keys (e.g. SHIFT, ALT, etc). For some applications specifying VK_SHIFT as part of a macro did not work. E.g. macro=VK_SHIFT,VK_UP for WinDVD's volume up command.
Techno-babble: the X10Key class now sends KEYEVENTF_EXTENDEDKEY | 0 as the dwFlags parm to keybd_event(), previously it always sent 0.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Thanks for the great app. It works perfect using my old X10 dvd anywhere remote.

I will try this new version tonight to see if it can help with my spdif problem where I can no longer control the volume after switching to a 7.1 chaintech sound card using SPDIF optical output. It looks like maybe controlling WINDVD (I have 6) for the volume may do the trick.

If I have to do the volume programatically, I will set up a vstudio 2003 project - which shouldn't be too hard right? I tried using your solution and MS complained it was in a newer version. I am a java programmer by trade and have only a small amount of experience with VStudio 2003 and .net

    thanks again.

    Mike
