    F

    I have 4 drives.

    Drive 0 Boot, OS, DVR.
Drive 1 Movies in Divx, and straight DVD rips
Drive 2 Program Install Files, Data folders for Me, My Girlfriend, Her daughter, Music Library, Picture Library

ESATA backup drive is external but always hooked up 500gb for now once I need more to back up Drive 2 I will upgrade it.

Drive 2 is backed up externally, Drive 0 has a image in a small partition on Drive 1

If Drive 1 dies I loose my movies, but I have netflix so I would just have to remake them /shrug

    3.5TB

Re: Poll: Bragging Time-How Much Hard Drive Space on Your HTPC?

    Roughly 2TB

250Gb in MCE2005 PC, used for OS and recorded TV only

    1.1TB in Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ (4x400Gb drives in x-raid)
1.1GB in Netgear ReadyNAS NV (4x250Gb drives in x-raid)

Recently brought the second ReadyNAS online and so have a comfortable amount of spare space, but will need to upgrade to 1TB drives in the medium term.

2 TB in VMC PC, used for OS and recorded TV only. 2 X 500GB and 1 X TB drives. As an aside, is anyone having problems with the time taken by VMC to build the thumbnails when selecting the Recorded TV option? Would appreciate any suggestions you can provide to speed this up. My machine has about 800 recordings and takes 5-10 secs to build the thumbnails. I want to increase my drive space (swap out the 500GB drives for 1TB drives) but am wary of slowing down even further. Would love if VMC either had an option to display just the program names like XP MCE had or was intelligent enough to not recreate all thumbnails each time.

    F. for me as well.

    PC Internal - ~1TB combined

    unRAID - 3TB (1TB Parity, 2TB usable; all 1TB disks) - expandable to 15TB usable with 1TB disks

BTW:  It took some tweaking and a while to get set up, but I love my unRAID.

Re: Poll: Bragging Time-How Much Hard Drive Space on Your HTPC?

I know this is an oldish thread...

    E:  2.1 TB

100GB:   Primary boot partition for OS (partition on 500GB drive)

60GB:     Old, functional backup boot partition for OS (partition on 500GB drive)

60GB:     Experimental boot partition for OS (partition on 500GB drive)

    1TB:       Recorded TV (2x 500GB in Raid 0)

600GB:   Online movie storage (2x300GB in Raid 0)

280GB:   Videos, Music, Pictures & Downloads

All 3 bootable partitions use the C drive letter for the OS.

I use a stand alone 500GB drive (USB enclosure) to back up critical files & the OS on the HTPC, but I don't back up Recorded TV, nor Online movies (original DVDs are the backup).

Note that I haven't upgraded any of the hard drives in well over a year.

One 30gb for OS, and one 500gb for Media. Going to go to 2TB or so in a raid config when I do my next upgrade.
