Surge!  Thank you for posting the batch converter!

I was not looking forward to going through one by one (my divx avi's are in their own separate folder) and changing the fourCC ID.  15 seconds and my entire collection is converted!  I love you!  (whoa, went a little far there didn't I?)

If you are still looking for this code changer, take a look here: http://shark007.net/
Towards the end of the page look for 'General Tools'. In a small download you'll find the tool you're looking for.
A direct link to the download: http://shark007.net/files/Codec_Tools.exe

I believe this is what you need chaps..

the link on the winremote dk site is broken

    http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=189&act=down

make sure you deselect test when u use it. Works 100% for me, just did almost 6000 divx files in around 60 seconds. All play on the extender now ;)

Re: DMA2100 and DivX / XviD - disappointing experience

    Hi all,

The trick with FourCC works for me on the Linksys DMA2100, but I get another problem playing xvid/divx movies through my extender. Sound plays for three seconds stops for a subsecond and plays again for three seconds and then stops again etc. Like hickups. The light on my receiver also turns on and off again.

The files play normally on my computer or through MediaCenter. Just not on the extender. Today I updated the firmware, but still the problem still exists.

I encoded my xvid files with Auto Gordian Knot 2.45 with 6ch and 2ch sound in auto mode or mp3 vbr 192kbps.

Has anyone seen this problem and knows how to fix this?

    Tnx,

    G

When the light is on on the receiver, is the audio AC3?

If so, this is a known problem with XVID and AC3 audio.   Linksys tried to blame my receiver, but others have confirmed the issue and now Linksys support admits it's an issue and they say "we are working on it"

I had to stop using HDMI to get around this issue..

Re: DMA2100 and DivX / XviD - disappointing experience

    Lo Gilgamesh,

im not seeing that on my DMA2200. I wouldnt expect the firmware to be coded that differently to the 2100 tbh.

My divx files are all encoded with DivX Author 1.5 with Dolby @ 192kbps (after using anydvd). After using the batch 4cc changer to xvid : XVID i get full Dolby surround in the lounge on the media center (X-Fi Fatality & Gigaworks S750) and i get perfect sync Audio/Video playback on the extender with the same files. Im not using 5.1 or 7.1 in the bedroom, im using Gigaworks T40. I get great sound no stutters etc.. no matter where im watching.

You could try Anydvd / Divx Author combo using free trial, try encoding something with those and see if it makes a difference.

You get full Dolby surround, but is that Dolby Pro or real AC3?
I don't think anyone has reported getting XVID and AC3.

Re: DMA2100 and DivX / XviD - disappointing experience

    Hi Surge,

unless im mistaken and the AVI Tagger is misleading me, the AVI Files that ive encoded with DivX Author 1.5 have audio encoded in Dolby AC3. The Audio option i selected in DivX Author was Dolby. Results in stunning sound on my 7.1 setup.

I couldnt find any data on the web to confirm what is used by DivX Author. If you can suggest something else for me to use to check to ensure the avi tagger is reading it correctly, then im happy to test and report back.

I would suggest you give the software a trial and see what results you get, i have to say, my results were good enough to make me pay to move from AutoGK to DivX Author.

All of my movies were encoded in xvid with AutoGK and have the original AC3 audio.  They all play fine.
