In device manager it shows a Driver Date of 6/21/06 and Driver Version of 6.0.6000.16386

    Is this up to date?

It's the firmware that counts and the only reliable way to check that, based on my experience, is to run the update tool from ATI's web site: http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vista32/ocur-vista32.html
Velocity Micro Cinemagix Grand Theater, C2Q, 2GB, 2 TB, 2 DCT, HDHomeRun

    Dell E1705, T7600, 2GB, 250GB, HVR-950
    WHS, WRT600N, DMA-2200, XBox360

You can check the firmware in the network page of each tuner as well

    PLUCKYHD:

I got burned by that recently.  I had a tuner that was having lots of issues and it was displaying 1.16 on the web page (both of them were).  I had checked it MANY times.  At a VM tech's recommendation, I tried updated the firmware anyway and the upgrade tool reported that the tuner was actually at 1.14!

Fellow VM owners.  Scott & Brown.  Do you guys rip dvd's to your machine saved on VMC on the DVD Library?

Have you had any problems w/ it?  Whenever I go into the dvd library it freezes for a couple of minutes.  Any idea what may be causing this and how to remedy it?  All other areas of VMC work great except DVD Library.

    Thanks guys

    wzabka,

Sometimes this will happen while it loads the movie info. Especially if some movies are on network shares.

I only have about 15 movies.  Is there anyway to make this go smoother/faster?

A couple of minutes is excessive 5 to 10 seconds is normal. I would hit info under the dvd library and see what folders it is watching.

Thanks Pluckmeister.  That was the problem.  My movie foler was on a drive that is loaded with music files.  I moved it and it works great now!

Re: Velocity Micro CineMagix Comcast Cable Card issues...

Hi, just a little off/tangent to the topic. I've been looking at the CineMagix system and have a couple of questions that hopefully somebody can answer.

    1) The ATI cable cards, those are 1 way, not 2 way correct? Does anyone know if the ATI tuners will support the newer tru2way cable cards? I'd like to have my On-Demand and PPV!

    2) Has anyone used a CineMagix box in conjunction with a Windows Home Server? I've already built my WHS, ripped 140 dvd's, 60GB of music and tons of photos, so I'd like to use the CineMagix to access this content too. I don't see a problem but was just wondering if anyone has done this??

    Cheers

    1)  1 way only.  There are no 2 way tuners out yet, and I have not even seen/heard of plans for 2 way yet.

    2)  Shouldn't be an issue.  While I don't have a CineMagix box, my Dell XPS 420 CableCard machine, plays DVD's stored on a Win2k8 Server with no issues.  I also have all my music stored on the Win2k8 Server without any issues.  BluRay/HD-DVd playback over the network works as well, but I am running a GIGE network.

dravor, thanks for the reply.  Actually Comcast announced at CES this year Tru2Way, a bi-directional cable card, with many of the leading TV manufacturers. Here's an article:

http://www.comcast.com/ces/tru2way.aspx  so the next question is when will this techology be available for HTPC's???

Thanks for the other info though!

It'll be awhile until we see it in media center.  I agree with Chris's post here that it'll be Windows 7 before we see it... http://msmvps.com/blogs/chrisl/archive/2008/02/29/1522852.aspx
