Now i spotted a new problem is anyone noticing that sometimes the highlight graphic for the dvd menus disappears in vista? i think i saw a thread regarding this some time ago....

I had the same problem 2 years ago on MCE 2005 with DVD menus did not highlight , it was the video driver, after updating the video driver the DVD menus worked and you could see the highlighted menu.

Hi Richard I actually found that solution after some searching. unfortunately I am running the latest catalyst driver for my hd2600xt sapphire card. Hopefully a new driver will appear shortly and all will be well. Thanks for your help and suggestions I will post here if i  find a solution in the interim

Dave have you tried rolling back the Video driver to an older one?
