Re: BBC iPlayer addin for vista MCE

Is there anything I can try at least to work around the issue?

Since the issue just happens when you group episodes, the workaround would be to not group the episodes.

There is a new version - 1.6.4 - which fixes a few bugs, such as not all BBC programs showing up, and errors occurring when going from more programs on the screen to less. That may be what was happening in this case, so I suggest you try the new version.

This is an important update for everyone even if you are not seeing errors, to make sure you get all BBC programs.

    Hi Martin, Loving your software.
You may or may not know that five have now released their own ondemand service at http://demand.five.tv/ complete with RSS feed: http://demand.five.tv/rss.aspx . It would be great to have the full 5 channels avaliable to stream.

    Cheers

    Hi Dean,

thanks for that. Yes, I recently learnt about that, and it's on my to-do list, but will probably take a few weeks until I get the opportunity.

There's another thread on here from someone asking about Skyplayer.  It might be worth looking at the possibilty of integrating that too!  You may need a subscription though to get the most out of it.

I'm sure that would be great, but I don't have sky Crying [:'(]

    Hi Martin,

It was me who posted the request about the SkyPlayer.  Looking at the Sky website you don't need a subscription to some of the content, just an account which is free to set up.

    See
    https://skyplayer.sky.com/vod/page/home.do

Sky is slightly different to the BBC, ITV & 4 contributions for VOD as it requires you to login.

The original skyplayer had a plugin for mediacentre anyway, and that worked with XPMCE and Vista (thought it was designed for XP)..

Personally, I would like to see 5 more than the Sky stuff, espeically as technically they do have a MCE player anyway....

It appears that although you don't need a sky subscription, you still need to pay for each program. If there's already a plugin anyway, I'll leave it to that to fill the niche rather than spending money on programs to test an integration.

5 is on the to-do list though.

    Aleks,

I do that, and then it just shows the links at the top to bbc 1, bbc2 etc, but returns 0 results. The cache file is full of data however.

    take a look at FAQ number 9. I have updated it with more detailed steps to follow for this. In your case I suspect a corrupt cache file, so the first set of steps should fix it;

Re: BBC iPlayer addin for vista MCE

    Hi Martin,

I've recently built a media center PC with Vista Home Premium, and I discovered your TunerFree app as an excellent addition so I can completely do away with my Virgin Media cable TV service!

However, when I go to install the program, it comes up with an error saying 'this must be installed on Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate edition'.

I am running Vista Home Premium, but I wonder where your installer looks for OS version, as I recently added the Media Center TV 2008 Pack, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it not working, as the VMC version number is now different.

Any suggestions how I can get round this, as I'd love to have your app up and running on my media center PC?

    Thanks in advance
