Sleep Timer v2

This adds a sleep timer to Media Center. It will not put your computer to sleep but only close MCE after the period of time specified. With MCE closed your computer will be able to go into standby after the time specified in your power management options. Any recordings will continue to record after MCE closes.

I hate to complain about a free app, but I'm getting an unhandled exception after the timer goes off. Also is there any way to switch the display it appears in. I have media center running on my secondary display (my TV) but my LCD is my primary and usually off when I'm watching TV in bed and that's the one the timer window appears in even when selected from Media Center - Hmm, maybe that's related to the exception. Anyway Thanks for the program it does in effect turn off my TV, and was super easy to install, worth trying.

Thanks, I got it to work... For those who don't know where it's located just simply: Open Media Center, Now Scroll to "More Programs", Nowlook for "Sleep Timer V2" click on it and enter the desired time....Now it should simply shut down Media Center in the time you entered.

A great utility to shutdown/suspend/standby etc tool: Poweroff and it's freeware: http://users.pandora.be/jbosman/applications.html Even works from command line and supports remote actions from other PC I use BIOS power on setting to auto switch on at a desired time.

When I launch the sleep timer, my mouse is automatically placed over the cancel button. this causes the plug-in to not work. Once I move the mouse the plugin works just fine with the remote. Does anyone know how to make the mouse disappear when I launch the sleep time plugin? Thanks

Wow - well it's obviously not INTENDED for Vista, but it functions. Why isn't this built into MC anyway? I mean if this really supposed to be "TV on your own terms," I mean any $100 TV has a sleep timer built into it.

hikey (and anyone else who was looking for a way to shut down at the same time everyday). Sorry this is so late in the game, but here's a solution... Digging around for the same thing myself, I found that you can use this command to shutdown Media Center from the command line: taskkill /im ehshell.exe This works in XP MCE 2005. I would assume it would work in Vista as well, but I don't know (and don't have Vista to test). Since you can do it from the command line, you can also launch this command from the Windows Task Scheduler, like so: Start->Programs->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Scheduled Tasks From the File menu, choose New->Scheduled Task Name the task whatever ("Shutdown MCE", for example). In the window that opens, enter the above taskkill command in the "Run" field, then click on the Schedule tab, and set the schedule paramaters to your liking. No guarantees, of course, but it seems to work for me for shutting down the open MCE window (or full screen). I don't think this will affect scheduled recordings in progress (there are other processes and services, like ehRec.exe) Hope this is useful for others...

Thanks to Jeff Griffin for this freeware. Works perfectly on my Vista machine...... only problem is that for some reason all of the MS office '07 shortcuts on my desktop (word, excel, project) have lost their normal icons and have changed to a win '97 style icon. Anyone able to shed any light on why this might have happened and how to change the icons back? (ps the shortcuts still function properly when I click on them)

Nice program but i cant get it to open on my tv. There is no way of minimizing it to drag onto my tv from my primary monitor. Anyone have any solutions or know of any sleep timers that work IN media center without launching a whole other app?
