QuiiQ Slashes Prices on QuiiQ Movies

Last week I wrote about QuiiQ Movies, a new movie cataloging and management application for Media Center and the overwhelming response was “$100+, no thanks.”

Well, it appears the guys at QuiiQ were listening and today dropped their price of the Base package to only $30.

I still haven’t had time to give it a shot, but a few early reviews have come in with relatively good news.  I think if QuiiQ can really show the market that they are committed to the market by providing frequent updates and bug fixes then this could be a good challenger for My Movies.

30 bucks is a hell of a lot better.  The software is actually pretty good once you go through the setup and import process.  Importing movies is a bit time comsuming but once it's setup the mce interface is quite good. Yes, much better than My Movies 2. I am curious to see what my movies 3.0 will look like once written in mcml (?).  Any one know when My Movies 3.0 is coming out?  If it's going to be while, I am going to buy QUIIQ.

Wow much more interesting with this price.

I would plan on my movies 3 for a while but there are some alternatives going to hit soon I believe. I know the guy who wrote mytv is working on one.

I am tempted as I have donated almost that to my movies over time.

Okay after waiting for the long import it didn't bring over and of the cover art or map them to where the movies are located. To much hassle for $30

I have yet to download it, but one item that I noticed is that in order to do BluRay with it, you need to rip the files and then use a different codec.  If I am going to rip my BluRay, I want a codec that will play on my extenders!  MyMovies allows you to burn the codecs on harddrive as ISOs and will play (through third party software) the ISOs as if they are local DVDs.  I would be happy with something that built upon the native DVD library and used that information to export to the extenders and use local RIPs or to stream to extenders.
