Today SlingMedia announced the Slingbox PRO-HD which includes
multiple inputs and outputs, including digital audio and a digital (ATSC/QAM)
tuner. The Slingbox PRO-HD is the first
Slingbox to stream (and not downconvert) content up to 1080i with 5.1 surround on
your local LAN. Assuming you have a fast
enough Internet connection you can also get fantastic near HD content at remote
locations. The Slingbox PRO-HD will be released
in Q3 2008 for $399.99. Engadget
has a hands-on post that also features Sling’s new Blackberry client.
If you are at CES this week then be sure to checkout
the panels and conferences that Microsoft will be involved in. Looks like IPTV (Mediaroom) will be making a
