Custom MCE Install Using XL1B2 Standalone DVD Changer

First Install! Sony Vaio XL1B2 DVD Changer with 3rd-Party MCE | CE Pro has published a piece Home Entertainment, Inc doing a custom install of a Sony VGP-XL1B2 Standalone DVD Changer.  Home Entertainment, Inc (which happens to be located The Woodlands, TX about 40 minutes from where I live) owner Kevin Buchanan says it works great.  "I plugged it into the 1394 port, the Media Center saw the disks, it started loading covers, and I hit 'Play'," he said.  The only problem with the setup is that you can’t stream the DVD’s to Media Center Extenders.  This is something I have covered several times (Here and Here), but from the comments of Microsoft’s Matt Goyer, it appears this feature has taken a backseat to other developments.  If that is true, Microsoft has made a huge mistake yet again, but only time will tell on that factor.

All and all, it appears Kevin was very happy with the install, see the story from CE Pro for more.
